Typrojeckt 2009

Hope you’re all ready for this; my big project for 2009 for Additive Designs. A year long typography/design project. Here’s the run down:

Until 2010 I will be doing a typography based design every week. The designs will be words or phrases or lyrics crafted by hand and based off of an existing type face. Each design will be a different type face ranging from san serfis to blackletter. The designs will be done in a variety of styles; from pen and ink or acrylics to lino cuts and screen prints. It’s one part design, one part typography, and all about the love of both.

In case you haven’t noticed, I update every wednesday; which means that the next 52 wednesdays will be dominated by Typrojeckt. I still want to do interviews, regular articles, and more music, but Typrojeckt takes the main stage.

So, to start things off I’ve done a pen and ink design based off of Alte Schwabacher. (click the picture for a larger image)

‘Heal’ is 9×12 and done with Staedtler pens.

If you have any type faces that you’d like to see me use in Typrojeckt just contact me. I’ve also set up a flickr group for typrojeckt (and typography designs); I’d love to see some of your typography based designs! Come on and join in on the fun! Oh, and if anyone would like to exchange link love just shoot me an email so that I can check out your stuff.

    This sounds like a great project andrew, i love ornamental type, great design, im in the flickr group cant wait to see some of your designs each week.
